As Head of Design, you will have overall accountability for managing and developing innovative, high-quality and informed creatives solutions for Reech’s clients, setting the bar for creativity.

This includes working across all realms of print, digital and website designs to produce exceptional work not only aesthetically beautiful but clearly demonstrates an understanding of the client brief and strategic objectives.

This role requires strong management and interpersonal skills to guide your team and other departments, as well as to confidently communicate with clients and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an internal expert for all things creative, defining, conceptualising and implementing creative strategy, ideas and inspiration for a wide range of clients
  • The primary voice of design inside and outside the company, sharing its work, evangelising its success, articulating its vision.
  • Brainstorm and conceptualise individually or within a group, bringing insight to the team and offer inspiration to your colleagues and clients.
  • Present and nurture your ideas all the way from concept to execution.
  • Influence design-led thinking across the business and lead on creative solutions
  • Develop creative and design concepts that meet a client’s business objectives and advance their brand
  • Keep project leads updated on the delivery of projects on time and budget
  • Provide quality control over design outputs and production, ensuring the design and creative projects are delivered on time
  • Develop, maintain and enhance creative guidelines and best practices for internal teams and client
  • Point of contact for liaising with an external supplier, partners and freelancers
  • Collaborate internally to generate ideas for new and existing clients.
  • Support sales and marketing producing assets as required
  • Work closely with CRT, Digital and Development teams to bring your ideas to life
  • Set priorities, handle multiple objectives in constrained time frames and interact decisively and diplomatically
  • Comfortable in presenting creative concepts to clients in person and remotely
  • Timely and efficient communication internally and with clients
  • Ensure quotations take into account all possible risks and appropriate contingency
  • Ensure written reports adhere to brand/template and client communication
  • Ensure the design team integrates with other departments efficiently, offering input into how all our services or output can be enhanced
  • Ensure processes and appropriate levels of knowledge are shared between teams
  • Instigate cross-team ideas and initiatives – aligning products and services
  • Encourage pro-active and constructive discussions with client delivery and account
  • management teams
  • Keep up to date with the latest design and creatives techniques and methodologies
  • Ensure training and support required by team members is delivered internally or externally
  • Create a culture of promoting new ideas or up-sell opportunities within the team for our clients

Team leadership, strategy & planning

  • Managing team of designers, photographers and freelancers as required
  • Appraisals and 1-2-1s and holiday entitlement
  • Identifying training needs
  • Motivating and performance managing the team
  • Creative and design recruitment
  • To drive the strategic direction of our products & services taking into account emerging and legacy technologies
  • To plan for team growth considering the blend/level of skills required within the team
  • To review project progress and overview of the performance of all individuals in the team
  • To meet and take ownership of deadlines, presenting early warning signs
  • To coach and performance manage where necessary
  • To have a clear task list and plan for inducting new members into the team and bring them up-to-speed as quickly as possible

  • To ensure you help your team develop, a strong understanding of the products, competition, industry, marketing goals and objectives of each client

  • To ensure your knowledge of the creative and design industry is kept up to date and relevant by networking, researching, training, reading blogs and news sources

  • Implementing and monitoring ongoing strategies to enable us to deliver quality and excellence through robust testing and policies that are balanced and appropriate to the scope of the project being delivered. To foster a focus on excellence across the development team.

Key skills and experience

  • A senior-level designer with strong and successful creative lead experience
  • 1 years’ experience of leading a team of creative team members
  • 1 years’ experience of managing, directing and motivating staff to deliver
  • with stretching scope and objectives
  • Excellent working knowledge of major social media channels including
  • Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Proactive and highly organised, with strong time management, planning and delivery skills
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Experience at advising key stakeholders at senior and board level
