The Importance of Branding

Branding is often a misunderstood marketing term. It’s more than just your logo design… it’s essentially the DNA of your business! Branding involves every aspect of the customer experience to differentiate your business from others in the market and deliver your key messages. Your website, your social media content, your business cards, and even the way you answer the phone are all influenced by a brand identity that is unique to your business.

Why is Branding so important?

You should never underestimate the power of branding! It changes how the target market perceives your product or service, helps to develop a strong reputation in the market, attracts new customers, and compliments your marketing strategies. When done well, branding will help your business get recognised and gain more leverage in the industry by ingraining in the mind of consumers. In turn, they’re more likely to remember your brand!

One obvious example of branding is your company logo, which serves as the ‘face’ of your business and is often the first point of visual contact for a customer. If your logo doesn’t set you apart from the competition or perhaps doesn’t convey the right message about your business, then it might be time to give the design an overhaul. Don’t forget that colour and typography are both crucial when it comes to making your logo resonate with your intended audience.

Screens of the new Grendon Court website

Now think about your brand voice - do you communicate in a way that is relevant and reflective of your target audience? Does the tone sound the same across all platforms, including your website and your social media posts? A consistent offering will put potential customers at ease by building trust and validating your reputation in the market - this is because people know what to expect every time they engage with your brand. You’re likely to retain customers, who may even help grow your business in the future by drumming up referrals too.

How we can help...

Now more than ever, it’s important to stand out from the crowd. Branding represents the personality of your business and how you wish to be perceived by your audience. Don’t leave your brand open to interpretation by disregarding standards for brand consistency. Whether you’re a start-up and unsure of where to begin, or perhaps your existing branding has lost its spark somewhere along the way, our Brand Experts here at Reech are here to help! Read more about our services, or take a look at our Grendon Court branding project in more detail to see how we've helped launch a local start-up.

Facebook launch paid online events

Facebook will allow small businesses and content creators to charge for access to online events.

With social distancing measures and restrictions still very much in place, many events planned this year have either been cancelled or postponed. The need to adapt has meant that both businesses and consumers alike are relying on the use of live videos and virtual experiences than ever before.

Provided by Facebook, paid online events is a free product that will enable businesses, creators, educators and media publishers to monetise live-streamed performances and classes. With the ability to add a 'donate' button, the update will also give event organisers the opportunity to raise money for charities and other local causes.

The latest rollout will certainly help small businesses and content creators earn more money during these difficult times, but Facebook hasn’t stopped there. In a recent announcement, the social media giant also announced that they will waive payment charges for Paid Live Events for at least 12 months to help support small businesses and creators over a period of time. This means that businesses will be able to keep 100% of the event revenue until June 2021 at the earliest. The fee waiver, however, will only qualify for events purchased on Facebook Pay via the Android app or through the website - Apple has rejected the waiver fee and will continue to collect a 30% charge for App Store mobile payments. Learn more about this update by clicking here.

To qualify for the monetised scheme, however, pages must comply with a set criteria; they should be original, authentic and must not promote any misleading or stolen content. Facebook will allow page owners to check whether they are eligible. Naturally, you’ll need to have a business page on Facebook to take advantage of the scheme! For more information on eligibility, please click here.

WordPress 5.5: what you need to know about the latest update

Did you hear - WordPress 5.5 was released last week! If your website is built on WordPress, here’s an overview of what to expect with the new update, including some of the main features and long-awaited improvements below.

Lazy loading...

No more lazy loading!
The addition of lazy loading means that your site will faster by postponing the download of images and videos that aren’t on screen or needed. This means that the browser itself won’t be waiting for everything to download, and so the visitor will be able to access the page quickly and easily – meaning an enhanced user-experience!

Automated plugin updates...

Going forward, you can enable auto-updates for your plugins and themes to keep up to date with the latest versions, which can help prevent hacks and security breaches. This is optional though, so if you prefer to manually update plugins then this You can turn auto-updates on or off for each plugin or theme – simply select “enable auto-updates” under Plugins in your admin dashboard (automatic plugin updates are turned off by default).

Default XML sitemaps...

WordPress 5.5 will automatically publish XML sitemaps for your website to help search engines easily discover and index your content as soon as it goes live – meaning you no longer need a third-party plugin to generate a site map.

Got a website project in mind?

If you’re looking to improve your existing online presence or have an exciting new business venture that needs a kick-ass website to go alongside it - get in touch! Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels - the right channel for your social media strategy?

Have you heard about Instagram Reels?

Whether your social-media savvy or have a product/service that you are looking to promote via social, there’s a new kid on the block for you to consider in approach. But is it the right channel for you to invest your time and money in?

Instagram Reels

The TikTok effect...

Having soared from 5.4 million UK users back in January 2020 to a staggering 12.9 million in April 2020, TikTok has undoubtedly taken the world of social media by storm. So, it comes as no surprise that, last week, Instagram launched ‘Instagram Reels’ - an integrated short-form video service that allows users to record and post 15-second videos with music overlays. Popular videos, or ‘Top Reels’, will appear on Instagram’s Explore page whilst ‘Featured Reels’ will be selected and promoted for their fun, creative or interesting content. Whilst TikTok operates as a stand-alone app, the new update will allow Instagram users to create, post and share video clips on their existing accounts.

So, should you use Instagram Reels as part of your social media strategy? The answer very much depends on your business and the demographic you’re trying to target. Whilst you may feel obligated to adapt to new trends and take advantage of every social media offering, it is important to first consider the relevance and the marketing impact this will generate in return.

Hitting the right audience...

Statistics show that 66% of TikTok users are under the age of 30. Instagram Reels is likely to follow in the footsteps of TikTok and appeal to Gen Z’s and Millennials - so unless you’re trying to sell to this age bracket, you may be wasting your time and money publishing content that isn’t reaching your intended audience. If you’re targeting a younger demographic, then Instagram Reels could be a great way to generate exposure and brand awareness… but only if your content is worthy. Overt video adverts that feel like a ‘hard sell’ will be ignored in favour of light-hearted and humorous content.

Broadening your reach with Instagram...

Before diverting your attention to Instagram’s new updates, it may be worth reviewing its current functionalities. Instagram Stories, introduced back in 2016, is still an excellent way to engage with your followers (who are already interested in your offering). So, before diverting your attention to Reels, perhaps re-consider your approach to Stories! Don’t forget that a great way to drive engagement is through the use of interactional features, e.g. poll stickers and emoji sliders.

Let's get social...

Are you getting the results you need from your current social media offering? Our social media management service can help you build your customer following, engage with your current customers and rocket your website traffic for those all-important leads. Whether Instagram is your bag or you’re looking for a B2B approach through LinkedIn, we’ve helped many clients across a variety of industries to grow their social media presence and increase sales.

Let's talk about all things social! Contact us at [email protected] or call the team today on 01743 296700.

Stay Telford Charity Logo Design

Reech design a 30 year anniversary logo for Telford charity, Stay

We’re pleased to announce we have recently launched a new logo for Telford based charity, Stay, to commemorate the charity’s 30th birthday in 2020.

About Stay...

Formed in 1997, Stay is a local charity that provides support and housing services for homeless and vulnerable people in Telford. Stay has 65 units of accommodation across the Telford area to help those who have nowhere else to go. The charity also offers a Floating Support Service and Homeless Outreach Service to guide those who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless by helping them develop the skills needed to maintain a tenancy, manage money and succeed in education, training, work placements and apprenticeships.

Stay Telford Charity LogoSupporting local...

The charity approached Reech to assist in a re-branding project to celebrate their 30th birthday, and our team were proud to work on the new logo to commemorate this special milestone achievement. Though the new logo had a cleaner and more contemporary feel, the design still paid homage to the old logo and brand history by reusing the same colours. The strapline ‘Supporting Brighter Futures’ was also created to encapsulate the values of the charity and strengthen emotional engagement with the brand.

It was a privilege to be asked to redevelop the ‘Stay’ brand in Telford. We’re always looking for ways that we can give back and help out fantastic local causes and do our part in supporting them with our services and expertise. This year the charity celebrates 30 years, so we wanted to make this rebrand fresh and exciting. We utilised the colours from their existing logo, using a curving ‘S’ to form a house, illustrating the shelter and support Stay offers to those who need housing support.

How will you approach to marketing?

Will you approach marketing differently post Covid-19?

It’s fair to say that the current COVID-19 pandemic is something that none of us expected – but has it changed the way businesses approach their marketing?

Digital marketing is on the up...

The past few months have seen us all search for new and interesting ways to keep ourselves and our families busy, trying new things and new fads to while away the time. Whether the thing you’ve chosen is baking, keeping fit, watching films or even dying your hair; one thing is common - now more than ever we are being influenced by digital marketing.

With the nation stuck at home, businesses have been turning to digital marketing in a bid to help stay afloat. The use of email marketing has increased, and with it, open rates are also on the up. We’ve also been flooded with special offers and sales while businesses who can function online look for ways to increase sales and maintain their brand awareness.

Keeping social...

Social media iconsSocial media, in particular, is at its highest use as we rack up screen time, so it comes as no surprise that many businesses have invested more in social media advertising and social commerce. In fact, it has been suggested that the UK’s lockdown could see an increase in social commerce sales by 95%.

Businesses that fall into specific categories have fared well during this time even without the need for digital marketing – such as supermarkets, food services that can offer delivery/takeaway and online clothing stores; but what about those who fall outside of these businesses?

Your digital marketing strategy...

We are creatures of habit and it is expected that from months of reaching for our phones, we will have developed a habit that will continue as ‘normal’ life resumes. For this reason, it is crucial that businesses who began to invest in digital marketing as a result of COVID-19 keep up their efforts. If you’ve started a new dialogue with your customers via social media, for example, keep this up. Your customers will be used to having this communication with you, so there is the importance to maintain this through regular organic and paid campaigns.

It’s also important to make sure you keep a check on the habits of your target market. With e-commerce sales on the up, have you considered investing in an e-commerce platform for your business? If you have an existing website for your business, have you spent time ensuring that you have a full digital marketing approach to boost your sales, such as regular new content, social media and email marketing?

Free digital marketing advice...

As we approach the next phase, now is the time to continue with your digital marketing efforts – or even take them further. And we can help. Fletcher Homes

Idea to delivery: creating a successful campaign in just two weeks

Here at Reech, we love a challenge. So, when our long-standing client, Fletcher Homes, asked us to find a way to market to prospective home-buyers during a national lockdown, we developed a social media campaign that provided real results in just 2 weeks.

Marketing during a lockdown...

Like many businesses throughout the UK, our clients have faced hurdles as a result of COVID-19. The inability to meet with customers face-to-face, invite them into their stores or showrooms and the social distancing measures have all meant businesses have needed to adapt to survive.

The problem...

Fletcher Homes

As a housing developer, Fletcher Homes were not permitted to allow prospective buyers to physically view developments. As the purchase of a home is very much about the visual, we came up with a campaign idea that allowed them to experience the feel of viewing a new home, whilst in the comfort (and safety) of their current home.

The idea and the goal...

We developed the campaign, ‘Your Perfect Stay at Home Homes’, which focused on the buyers’ ability to view prospective homes virtually, utilising social media to push the campaign out. This was to be achieved through a series of promotional videos and posts that were utilised on social media including:

  • A promotional ‘Stay at Home Homes’ video that utilised stunning photography with key messaging
  • A series of video tours of different available models, each with voiceovers describing the main selling points of the property
  • Promotion of ‘Virtual Viewing’ which allowed buyers to book a video tour with a member of Fletcher’s sales team for a more in-depth tour of their preferred property

The goal was to increase traffic to the Fletcher Homes website and, in turn, increase the number of enquiries for current and future homes. Of course, the ultimate goal was to obtain sales leads that led to sales!

Team collaboration...

A campaign like this required several specialities, from design and photography to videography and social media. Our team worked collaboratively to develop a concept, strapline and campaign brand. We wanted to combine the branding of Fletchers with the ‘Stay Safe, Stay Home’ message, ensuring a clear call to action and the benefits of owning a build from Fletcher Homes.

And the results are in!

The campaign ran for 11 days, starting with a paid advertisement on Facebook with subsequent organic videos and carousel posts were scheduled onto Fletcher’s Facebook and Instagram channels. Through a carefully devised and managed campaign, we achieved the following:

  • +5,000 video views
  • +34,000 reach on Facebook
  • The Fletcher Homes website saw a 272% increase in users
  • 62.6% of visitors to the Fletcher Homes website came via social media
  • They received an increase in enquiries & reservations during the week of the campaign

Got a challenge for us?

We’re always looking forward to our next challenge - have you for an idea for a campaign you want to see realised? Or do you need some help with meeting your business objectives with the development of a bespoke campaign?

Get in touch today to discuss your ideas - drop us an email at [email protected] or call us on 01743 296700.
